Today begins our annual Winter Bible Conference here at Bible Baptist Church.  This morning at 8:30 AM and at our Bible Study hour Dr. Ernie Moore will be preaching.  At 11:00 AM and 6:00 PM today, Dr. Raymond Barber from Texas will be preaching as well as Monday - Wednesday evening.  This is a power-packed week of great teaching and preaching.  Be here for each service and bring along your family and friends so that you may get one of Dr. Barber’s books.
If this is a Bible Conference, let us take a few moments to examine some facts about the Word of God:
There are sixty-six books that comprise the Bible (39 in Old Testament and 27 in the New Testament).
There are approximately 592,439 words and 2,728,100 letters in the Old Testament.
There are approximately 181,253 words and 838,380 letters in the New Testament.
God used approximately 40 men to record the Word of God.
Three languages were used to record the Word:  Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek.
The Bible was written in a period of approximately 1,500 years which equals to over 40 generations.
There are 1,189 chapters in the Bible (929 in the OT & 260 in the NT.)
The longest verse is Esther 8:9, and the shortest verse is John 11:35.
The Bible can be read aloud in 70 hours.
There are 1,260 promises in the Bible.
There are 6,468 commands in the Bible.
The longest name in the Bible is Mahershalalhashbaz. (Isa. 8:1)
The word “God” appears 3,358 times.
The word “Lord” appears 7,736 times.
Here is the greatest fact:  The Bible is inerrant, inspired, invigorating Word of God and the author is alive, authoritative and awesome!

    Enjoy the Word of God!

April and I want to thank you for the outpouring of love and support you showed us this past Sunday.  It seems like just yesterday we packed up in Baltimore and headed south to Florida.  These five years have literally been wonderful years where we together have experienced the multiple blessings of God.  Often it is remarked that after two years at a church, the “honeymoon” for the pastor is finished.  I am not sure who came up with that, however here at Bible Baptist Church we still have such a sweet unity and service together.  Once again, thank you for the care you have shown my family.
Next Sunday begins our annual winter Bible conference with Dr. Raymond Barber.  Dr. Barber is a dear friend and one of our favorite preachers here at Bible Baptist Church.  As a matter of fact, this is his third time with us in the last four years.  Dr. Barber possesses a deep passion for the Word of God and powerfully delivers the great truths of the Word.  Be sure to mark Sunday through Wednesday on your schedule and be here for every service. I will be giving each person who brings 3 or more visitors one of Dr. Barber’s books entitled, Dear Lord, Tell Me What to Do. Begin now to invite others to be with you.
Tonight is Ministry Involvement Night after the evening service.  Enjoy a bowl of ice cream and spend some time learning about all the great ministries of our church.  Ask the Lord to burden your heart for an area of service.  We need you.  This evening is always one of my favorite Sunday nights of the year.

    Worthy”
Colossians 1:10 says, “That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God.”  Our theme for Bible Baptist Church in 2009 is “Walk Worthy.”  This theme will be our rallying point this year just like “To Live Is Christ” was for 2008.  We will hear preaching on it, memorize it, sing about it, display it, and most importantly apply it in our lives.  I hope you will wear your pin as a testimony to God’s work in your life.  Be ready to tell people all about it.  Here is a quick review of our past themes:
                                         2006 - “He Is Able”
                                         2007 - “Building Faith”
2008 - “To Live Is Christ”
                                         2009 - “Walk Worthy”
Tonight will be a special evening as I lay out our vision for 2009.  I believe that we are in for some great blessings with God.  He is truly so good to us.  I believe it is a good plan to set goals and strive to reach them for God’s glory.  Having a vision and keeping it before you is a way of keeping your life focused on those things which should have priority in your life.
Over the last few weeks I have had a number of people who were visiting our church from both near and far comment about the air of excitement and enthusiasm at Bible Baptist while they were here.  I believe this is the result of two factors:  1.  The Spirit of the Lord.  2.  The spirit of the people.  Thank you for making this such a special place.
