We have been in the new building now for a few weeks and the enjoyment factor is still going.  I thanked the Lord again this week for all He has done for us.  This has proven to be a great summer with so many decisions for Christ and a host of visitors that has attended our services.  Our work and our cause is great in the eyes of the Lord.  Many of you have helped furnish the building in honor or in memory of a friend or loved one.  Some of you have asked recently if there is anything else which needs to be covered.  There are a few items that I will list for you:

    1. 3 Video cameras - $2,000/each
    2. New lit cross in lobby - $1850
    3. 10 Conference room chairs - $100/each
    4. 2 End tables for platform - $175/each
If you want to help in any of these areas, just let me know
    .
Habakkuk 1:13 says, “Thou art of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on iniquity:  wherefore lookest thou upon them that deal treacherously, and holdest thy tongue when the wicked devoureth the man that is more righteous than he?”  It is hard to fathom true and absolute holiness because we are such a sinful people.  It is our sin which has separated us from a holy God.  The sacrifice of our Lord on Calvary has allowed us the opportunity to know the forgiveness of God for our sins.  The righteousness of Christ has been placed on our lives which allows us to stand blameless before a holy God.  May we now live a life of holiness before God.  The Word of God says, “Be ye holy for I (God) am holy.”

I am so glad that you survived “No TV Week.”  I knew you would make it.  Personally there was so much that I was able to accomplish and get done.  Did you even notice that the hurricane stayed away from us during this week?  It is my hope that some new habits would now be developed to strengthen your walk with the  Lord.

Today we welcome Dr. Shelton Smith to the pulpit of Bible Baptist Church.  This is Dr. Smith’s fifth visit here since I became the pastor.  You do not have to be around me very long to know what I think of this man of God.  What an impact he has had and continues to have on my life.  Every pastor needs a pastor; and Dr. Smith is my pastor.  Welcome him today!

I Corinthians 9:24 - 27 “Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.

And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.

I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:

But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.”

How is your running?  For many of us, it has been quite awhile since we physically took a long run.  However, the Christian life is one in which we run for our entire life.  In order to accomplish this, we must keep our bodies under subjection or in other words we must die to our flesh.  Put aside all the sin that keeps you from running.  Cast off all those things which weigh you down and diminish your effectiveness.  Remember, you and I are running “for the prize of the high calling of God.”  What a reward that will be.  So Christian, get out there this week and run.  May God bless you.

Today kicks off our annual “No TV Week” here at Bible Baptist Church.   I know this is going to be a great week here.  Some of you are already dreading this week.  Let me inform you that you can do this and you will survive.  This week will be what you make it.  Make it a week of family and growth.  Here are just a few suggestions for the week:

    8. Give one of your rooms a makeover.
    9. Spruce up the outside of your home with some new plants.

    11. Invite everyone on your street to your church.
    12. Call some friends you have not talked to for quite some time.
    13. Invite friends over for a game night.
    14. Go out for an ice cream cone.

Early on, God created the dog and said:

“Sit all day by the door of your house and bark at anyone who comes in or walks past.  For this, I will give you a life span of twenty years.”

The dog said, “That’s a long time to be barking.  How about only ten years and I’ll give you back the other ten?”

    So God agreed.

On the next day, God created the monkey and said,  “Entertain people, do tricks, and make them laugh.  For this, I’ll give you a twenty-year life span.”

The monkey said, “Monkey tricks for twenty years?  That’s a pretty long time to perform.  How about I give you back ten like the dog did?”

    And God agreed.

On the next day, God created the cow and said,  “You must go into the field with the farmer all day long and suffer under the sun, have calves and give milk to support the farmer’s family.  For this, I will give you a life span of sixty years.

The cow said,  “That’s kind of a tough life you want me to live for sixty years.  How about twenty years and I’ll give back the other forty?”

    And God agreed again.

On the next day, God created man and said,  “Eat, sleep, play, marry and enjoy your life.  For this, I’ll give you twenty years.”

But man said,  “Only twenty years?  Could you possibly give me my twenty, the forty the cow gave back, the ten the monkey gave back, and the ten the dog gave back; that makes eighty, okay?”

“Okay,” said God, “You asked for it.”

So that is why for our first twenty years we eat, sleep, play, and enjoy ourselves.  For the next forty years we slave in the sun to support our family.  For the next ten years we do monkey tricks to entertain the grandchildren.  And for the last ten years we sit on the front porch and bark at everyone that passes by.

Life has now been explained to you...
