    Psalm 91    Part A          Safety-Abiding in the Presence 
    *    The First Speaker (vs 1-2)

    *    Pestilence-Disease; Plague; God’s Judgment
    *    This Promise Protects:
    *    Both The Natural & Spiritual Life
    *    Cover-Make Inaccessible
    *    Trust-Take Refuge
    *    Truth-Faithfulness & Truthfulness
    *    Shield-A Large Rectangular Covering for the Whole Body
    *    Buckler-A Defensive Wall
    *    Truth is a Most Effective Shield Against Any Enemy

    Psalm 46  Part 2                     God Our Confidence 
             In the midst of her-His Help is Sure and Near
             Be moved-Turned to the Side or in Any Other Direction (1 Cor 15:58; Matt 6:18)
             God shall help her-Faithful
             Right early-At the Turning of the Morning
             The Past Tense Verbs Indicate Certainty
             All Powers & Matter Dissolved by His Word (2 Pet. 3:12)
             The Lord of hosts is with us-This is the Ground of Assurance (Matt 26:53)
             With us-On our Side; Ready to Help
             The God of Jacob-Our Covenant God
             Refuge-A Stronghold, A High Tower, A Fortress
             Come behold-Use Your Spiritual Discernment to Understand
             Desolations he hath made in the earth-History Instructs
             He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth-The Only Lasting Peace
             He maketh wars to cease-A Function of an Earthly King
             Breaketh the bow, cutteth the spear, burneth the chariot-He Destroys All Offensive Weapons (Is 11:9)
             Be still-Hang Lifeless; Lacking Power or Force to Respond
             Know that I am God-By Looking Back to See What God Has Done in the Past
             I will be exalted among the heathen-A Miraculous Deliverance Brought Special Honor to God (Ex 14:4)
             I will be exalted in the earth-Good News Spreads to Wider Circles (2 Chr 32:23)
             The Lord of hosts is with us-Including the Hosts of Heaven
             The God of Our Spiritual Ancestors is Still the God We Have Today (Heb 13:8)

    ·        To the chief Musician-The Most Skillful is Entrusted With the Psalm
    ·        Sons of Korah-Spared & Dedicated Singers (Num 27:11)
    ·        Upon Alamoth-A Musical Direction; To Be Sung Upon High Notes
    ·        Theme-The Difference the Lord Makes When We Trust Him Through Difficulties
             When Written?-Possibly Jehoshaphat’s Battle of 2 Chron 20 or Hezekiah’s Against Assyria 2 Ki 19
             Our-Personal Possessive Pronoun; The Congregation
             Refuge-A Shelter, a Cave, or Crag in the Rock
             God Doesn’t Protect Us In Order To Pamper Us
             Strength-Power; Might (Ps 18:2)
             A very present help-Accessible; One Easy To Be Found (2 Chr.15:4)
             In trouble-Distress
             Will not we fear-Irrational to Fear With God by Our Side
             Earth be removed-Change of State of All Visible Things
             Mountains by carried-Slip, Quake, or Shake & Be Submerged in the Heart of the Sea
             Roar-Not Afraid of Noise
             Be troubled-Foam; Not Afraid of Fury
             Swelling-Surging Water; Not Afraid of Real Power to Shake Mountains
             Selah-Musical Rest; Probably “Stop & Think About That..”
             The Contrast: Tumult of the World-Tranquility Dwelling With God
             The Earthly Reference
             Jerusalem, the city of God, at Siege By the Enemy
             Water is Critical, As Jerusalem is One of the Few Ancient Cities Not Built by a River
             Hezekiah’s Tunnel Connected the Spring of Gihon in Kidron with the Pool of Siloam in the City (2 Ki 20:20) 
             The Spiritual Imagery
             God’s Grace is the river providing the Water of Life (Jn 7:37-39)
             Not Only in This Life, But in the Life to Come (Rev 22:1)
             The streams-The Various Influences on Our Lives
             Make glad-Rejoice Over the Assurance That God Never Fails to Supply Needs
             God’s People Have Always Depended on Hidden Spiritual Resources From God Alone
             The Church is the city of God today
             The Church is also the Tabernacles of the most High through the Indwelling of the Holy Spirit
