·        Upon Alamoth-A Musical Direction; To Be Sung Upon High Notes
·        Theme-The Difference the Lord Makes When We Trust Him Through Difficulties
•         When Written?-Possibly Jehoshaphat’s Battle of 2 Chron 20 or Hezekiah’s Against Assyria 2 Ki 19
•         Our-Personal Possessive Pronoun; The Congregation
•         Refuge-A Shelter, a Cave, or Crag in the Rock
•         God Doesn’t Protect Us In Order To Pamper Us
•         Strength-Power; Might (Ps 18:2)
•         A very present help-Accessible; One Easy To Be Found (2 Chr.15:4)
•         In trouble-Distress
•         Will not we fear-Irrational to Fear With God by Our Side
•         Earth be removed-Change of State of All Visible Things
•         Mountains by carried-Slip, Quake, or Shake & Be Submerged in the Heart of the Sea
•         Roar-Not Afraid of Noise
•         Be troubled-Foam; Not Afraid of Fury
•         Swelling-Surging Water; Not Afraid of Real Power to Shake Mountains
•         Selah-Musical Rest; Probably “Stop & Think About That..”
•         The Contrast: Tumult of the World-Tranquility Dwelling With God
•         The Earthly Reference
•         Jerusalem, the city of God, at Siege By the Enemy
•         Water is Critical, As Jerusalem is One of the Few Ancient Cities Not Built by a River
•         Hezekiah’s Tunnel Connected the Spring of Gihon in Kidron with the Pool of Siloam in the City (2 Ki 20:20) 
•         The Spiritual Imagery
•         God’s Grace is the river providing the Water of Life (Jn 7:37-39)
•         Not Only in This Life, But in the Life to Come (Rev 22:1)
•         The streams-The Various Influences on Our Lives
•         Make glad-Rejoice Over the Assurance That God Never Fails to Supply Needs

•         The Church is also the Tabernacles of the most High through the Indwelling of the Holy Spirit
