One Way Door That Shuts Behind Us
Saved (sozein)-Deliver From the Penalties of the Judgment (Lk 19:10)
By me-By Living Relation to Christ
If any man-Either Shepherd or Sheep
Enter-We All Begin on the Outside
Shall be saved-Delivered from Judgment & Granting of Eternal Life

The Use of Three’s is a Biblical Way of Emphasizing Qualities
Here the Three’s Emphasize the Powerful Nature of Evil Opponents

Have it-Have it and Hold it
More abundantly (perisson)-Means That Which Goes Way Beyond Necessity
Good (Kalos)-Good Without Limitation or Qualification
The-Many Worthy of the Name, But Jesus Alone Justifies the Designation
Prophesy Declares Him to be The Shepherd (Gen 49:22-24; John 11:49-52)
Giveth his life-Layeth Down or Die Voluntarily
For the sheep-The Shepherd Dies That the Sheep May Live (1 Jn 3:16; Matt 20:28)

  • The Good Shepherd Week 3

             But they-The Pharisees
Understood not-Listened, But Could Not Hear (Matt 13:13)
             Again-Sensing Their Lack of Understanding
             Repetition Shows God’s Graciousness
The Focus is Placed Upon the Door of the Sheepfold Instead of the Shepherd
We Move From Incarnation to Salvation (verses 7-8)
             The door-Only Door
Of the sheep-Not of the Fold, the Sheep as Individuals
This Example Refers to the True & False Teachers of the People
The Intruder’s Goal is the Destruction of the Sheep
All that ever came before me-Came Making Themselves Doors of the Sheep
Are thieves and Robbers-Present Tense, refers to Sanhedrin & Pharisees
But the sheep did not hear them-The True Sheep Have Not Been Seduced
