Saul Turns Against David                   1 Samuel 18:6-19 
         As they came-The Success of David & Saul Was Celebrated By All
         Tabrets-Three-Stringed Lute
         And the women answered one another-A Type of Hebrew Poetry Chanted Back and Forth
         A Well Known Couplet to Israelites & Philistines  (1 Sam 21:11;29:5)
         Very wroth-He Was Hot or Enraged
         Thousands versus ten thousands-Saul Felt Guilt, Jealousy, and That He Was Shown Up by a Youth
         Have more but the kingdom?-Samuels Prophecy (15:28)
         Saul eyed David-Evil Eyed or Kept a Jealous Eye
         It came to pass on the morrow-Probably a Sleepless Night
         Evil spirit from God came upon Saul-God Removed the Hedge & Permitted As Before
         Prophesied (Hithpahel)-False Prophecy; True Prophecy is Always Niphal
         David played with his hand, as at other times-In Order to Soothe Saul, But Without the Desired Effect
         Saul cast the javelin-Cast (pilpel) Means to Hurl or Make Linear Movement Through the Air With An Object by Force
         David avoided out of his presence-Turn; A Non-Linear Pivot Motion
         Saul was afraid of David-Saul Lost Divine Power & Protection & He Knew The LORD Gave Both to David
         Saul removed him from him-Saul Saw That He Could Not Destroy David Personally, So He Tries A Different Tactic
         Made him his captain-Command Over One Thousand
         What Advantages Appealed to Saul in This Promotion?
         An Excuse to Remove David Without Increasing the Rumors of His Bizarre Actions
         The Hope That David Would Be Killed in Battle
         The Hope That a Sudden Promotion Would Lead David to Make Mistakes
         He went out and came in before the people-Public Military Expeditions
         David behaved himself wisely in all his ways-Prospered Because of Divine Assistance
         This Tactic of Saul Had Two Effects:
         It Added to Saul’s Fears
         The People Loved David
         Saul, Under Pretense of a Marriage with His Daughter, Again Plots David’s Death
         Elder daughter Merab-Means Growth or Increase
         Her will I give to wife-Saul Brings Up the Promise
         Only-Saul Subtly Adds A New Requirement
         Merab Would Become David’s Wife for Ongoing Military Service & Zeal for the Lord
         Valiant for me-Encouragement to Take Risks
         For Saul said-To Himself
         What is my life…my father’s family?-Unqualified Genealogy (Ruth 4:13-17)
