Life of David-Fugitive Years Wk 20

Darkness in David’s Life           1 Samuel 27:1-12
David Was Raised to A High Position of Regard (Prov. 16:32)
The Moment That Faith Wins a Great Victory, Danger is Near
David’s Life is No Different Than Ours-Opposites Exist at the Same Time (2 Cor 6:9-10)
God is in the Refining Business
And David said in his heart-Humanistic Viewpoint (2 Cor 1:8-9)
David Did Not Have the Benefit of an Elijah Type Miracle
There is No Indication in the Chapter of David Praying
I shall now perish one day by the hand of Saul-Pessimistic Reasoning
David Ignored All the Promises of God Concerning Himself
Nothing better for me than that I should speedily escape-Rationalization
         Why Leave Israel?
Saul Knew of All David’s Hiding Places By Now
The Constant Moving Was Hard on the Men & Now Families
Food Hard to Find for Such A Large Group
         This Action Was:
         Dishonoring to God
God Had Sworn to Make David King
How Impossible for God to Lie or Forget His Covenant (Matt 5:18)
         Highly Injurious
The Philistine Culture Was Filled With Idol Temples & Priests
What Fellowship or Worship Could David Have There? (Ps 137:4)
What About the Peril to the Families He Brought With Him
         First Consequence of the Move
Saul sought no more again for him-A False Sense of Security
         Second Consequence of the Move
Found grace in thine eyes-Submission to the Adversaries Cause
Dwell in the royal city with thee?-Proximity Caused Constant Inspection
         Third Consequence of the Move
David dwelt…a full year and four months-Lengthy Period of Compromise
         Living a Lie
David Continues to Fight the Traditional Enemies of Israel
Some of Whom Were Allies to the Philistines
And left neither man nor woman alive-The Only Way to Keep This From King Achish
Against the south of Judah-A Lie, These Were Not Judean Tribes
Achish believed David-Because David did Not Bring Back Slaves Which Are the Most Prized Possessions
How Could David Justify All This Killing?
David Lived in Ziklag; Outside the Nation of Israel
Ziklag Had Been Given to the Tribe of Simeon 350 Years Before by God
Moses Was Told to Exterminate Them for Their Wickedness
         Simeon Disobeyed
David Was Carrying Out the Orders Simeon Failed to Do
Living By the Sword & Lying, Only Exchanged One Fear For Another
