The Ark to Jerusalem                                   2 Samuel 6:1-23

    n     The Months
n     Afraid of the LORD that day-Renewed Respect for Power & Holiness
n     Aside into the house of Obededom-Closest Levite House (1 Chron 15:16-18)
n     Gittite three months…and the LORD blessed-In the Form of Multiplied Children (1 Chron 26:8)
    n     The Mad Wife
    n     David’s Celebration
n     Brought up the ark…into the city of David-Levites Carried It Scripturally
n     Had gone six paces, he sacrificed-May Be Symbolic of Sabbath Rest & Consecration of the Whole Trip
n     David danced before the LORD-To Spring Around in Half Circles
n     David was girded with a linen ephod-Clothing Reserved for Priests & Levites
n     Wearing the Ephod Suggests David Had the Title of a Priest
n     He Got That Status By Taking Jerusalem, the Home of Melchizedek (Gen 14:8)
n     This Title Applied to David, As Well As to One of His Descendants-Christ (Heb 7:14-21)n     Michal…despised him in her heart-Michal’s Objection Was That it Was Unbefitting a King
n     Tabernacle that David had pitched for it-Erected a Special Tent (1 Chr 16:39-40)
n     End of offering…he blessed the people-Another Priestly Act (Gen 14:18-19)
    n     Michal’s Condemnation
n     How glorious was the king of Israel-Spoke in the Third Person
n     Uncovered himself-He Took Off His Royal Robe & Appeared Inferior
n     It was before the LORD-The Celebration Was Not For the Women (1 Cor 4:10)
n     Maidservants…of them shall I be had in honor-Upon Reflection, We Are All Nothing in God’s Presence-Humility
n     Michal the daughter of Saul had no child-Barrenness Interpreted as the Lord’s Disapproval & End of Saul’s House

The Ark to Jerusalem                                   2 Samuel 6:1-23
    n     The Mission
n     Again, David gathered-After Hebron & After the 2 Philistine Attacks
n     The chosen men of Israel-Warriors, Elders, and Priests
n     To bring up from thence the ark of God-For 75 Years The Ark Had Been Away From The Sanctuary at Shiloh
n     Why Did David Want the Ark in Jerusalem?
n     To Honor the Lord and Give Him His Rightful Place as King of the Nation
n     A Secret Desire in His Heart to Build a House for the Lord
n     Name of the LORD…dwelleth between the cherubims-His Glory
n     What was in the ark?
n     Usually said: Tables of Stone, Manna, Rod
    n     Hebrews 9:3
n     1 Kings 8:9 Says Nothing in the Ark, But Stone Tablets
n     God Does Not Share His Glory with Any Created Thing or Person
n     Then why are the Tables of Stone in the Ark?
n     Because God & His Word are Equal (Jn 1:1)
n     David arose, and went…bring up-Missing Element: Inquiry of the Lord
    n     The Method
n     Set the ark of God upon a new cart-Not The Scriptural Method (Num 4:15)
n     They Used the Philistine Method As A Precedent
n     Accompanying the ark-Uzzah Walked At The Side & Ahio Held and Guided the Oxen Up Front
    n     The Music
    n     Played-Means Danced & Rejoiced
    n     The Mistake
    n     Nachon’s threshing floor-Permanent Stone Pavement
n     The oxen shook it-Nothing Said of the Ark Being in Danger
n     Uzzah put forth his hand-Precaution
n     Took hold of it-Capital Offense (Num 4:15)
n     Touching it Made God’s Holiness Come in Contact With Sinful Humanity
n     Anger of the LORD was kindled against Uzzah-The Act Violated A Divine Law & Was Irreverent
n     There he died-God Judged Uzzah Instantly
n     The Lesson: God’s Work Must Be Done in God’s Way to Have God’s Blessing
n     David was displeased-That Uzzah Caused God to Bring Judgment

The Israeli Army Was Not Full Time
David Needed to Gather the Warriors of Israel
Valley of Rephaim-Nearer Jerusalem, Making David’s Cave Towards the Rear of the Philistines
             Why This Philistine Position?
They Intended to Take Jerusalem By Famine
They Intended to Cut Off the Northern Tribes in the New Kingdom
             A Sudden Reversal of Fortune
Reversals Such As This Ground Us in God & Build Character
             2 Samuel 23:13-17
Three of the thirty-Unnamed, But Not Unnoticed
David longed and said-To Himself, Not A Command
Longing After Past Memories Does Not Satisfy (Jn 4:13-14)
The Three Men Wanted to Please Their Leader
Break through the host…brought it to David-Results, Not How
Poured it out unto Jehovah-Sacrificial Offering
The Drink Offering Accompanied the Burnt Offering
The blood of the men-Water Bought At The Risk of Blood
David Would Not Treat As Nothing, That Which Cost the Men Everything
The Exploit Changed the Course of David’s Thoughts To The Positive
Jesus Gave Himself As A Sacrifice for Us, and Also As A Drink Offering (Ps 22:14)

The sound of a going in the tops-Hebrew, A Marching
The Tree Top Movement Suggests The Feet of Invisible Angelic Squadrons (2 Ki 6:15)
The LORD go out before thee-Jehovah Leads in the Battle
From Geba until thou come to Gazer-Retreat North to Geba, Then 15 miles South to Gazer in Their Own Country
