Galatians Wk3

Divine Origin of Paul’s Gospel            Gal 1:10-16a
n     Paul’s Present Confession
n     He Served Only Christ
n     The First Question Reveals Paul’s Present Motivation
n     Do I now persuade men, or God?-Paul Told Men What They Needed to Hear, Not What They Wanted to Hear
n     Paul May Have Adapted His Methods, But Not His Message (1 Cor 9:22)
n     The Second Question Reveals Paul’s Future Motivation
n     Do I seek to please men?-Paul Was Not Disturbed Over What Men Thought of His Ministry (1 Cor 4:3)
n     The Gospel is Not a Product to be Peddled on the Marketplace of Life
n     God, Not Any Human, is Our True Audience
n     For if I yet pleased men-An Admission Paul Was Once a Men Pleaser
n     Pleased men…servant of Christ-Mutually Exclusive
n     Apostle…servant-Before Men an Apostle, Before God A Servant
n     He Received His Message Only From Christ
n     I certify (gnorizo)-Make Known
n     Four Points About Paul’s Message:
n     Not after man-His Message Was Not According to Human Advice (Prov 14:12)
n     Neither…of man-His Message Was not From Human Sources
n     Neither…taught it-By Any Other Apostle or Believer
n     By the revelation of Jesus Christ-Directly Taught by Christ
n     His Past Conduct
n     He Hated The Church
n     Ye have heard of my conversation-Personal Testimony Before Salvation
n     I persecuted-To Put to Flight
n     The church of God-The Body of Christ Which Becomes the Bride of Christ
n     And wasted it-Elimination of Christian Doctrine
n     Beyond measure-Disregarded The Counsel of His Teacher
n     He Loved The Traditions
n     Three Facts About Paul’s Life as a Pharisee:
n     First, He Was Rapidly Being Promoted
n     Profited-Literally Means to Cut Before
n     Second, Advancing Faster Than Anyone of His Age
n     My equals-Means His Own Age or Classmates
n     Third, He Was At The Head of the Class
n     Exceedingly zealous-One With Greater Degree of Desire Than Anyone
n     His Personal Conversion
n     When it pleased God-When God Was Ready to Choose (Eph 1:5)
n     Four Specific Acts of God in His Life:
n     First, Separated, Meaning To Mark Off From a Boundary or Set Apart (Jer 1:4-5)
n     Second, called me by his grace to Salvation (Jn 6:37)
n     Third, to reveal his Son in me or Illumination (2 Cor 4:6)
n     Fourth, preach him or Commissioned to the Gentiles
